I am not going to get into the politics of this. But I will point out that in NYC we currently have monthly Quidditch pick up games via TGTSNBN (www.hp-nyc.com). We have a registered IQA non-university/college COMMUNITY Quidditch team, the Badassilisks. And we are working with Alex Benepe and the IQA to form a kind of rec league in NYC for regularly scheduled non-competitive pick up games. So, if you are looking to play Quidditch outside of college. NYC might be a good travel goal =)

I think Quidditch really needs rec leagues to take off. College teams will start playing at a level on par with the other sports in their school, people will get to play in the summer, and my fave part - if there’s a league in your area, your hometown friends can play with you… instead of just playin with kids from your college. Personally, I want a chance to beatdown on my brother, the “family athlete”. There could be K-5, 6-8, 9-12 and adult leagues, just like other rec sports.

Fuck Yes Quidditch!: REC QUIDDITCH LEAGUES 

I want rec leagues so so freaking badly.  I need to find one, especially since I’m graduating.  It’s really hard to have one team that has both crazy competitive people and people who want to have fun and play for love of Harry Potter and the game.  I can’t tell you how many times the competitive people have yelled at me for not being athletic.
